About LDV

LDV is a UK based vehicle manufacturer and makes the MAXUS range of vans and light commercial vehicles, which replaced the former Convoy and Pilot products in 2005. Convoy and Pilot were themselves derived from the iconic Freight Rover Sherpa.

LDV was formed by a management buy-out from DAF in May 1993 and remained independent until 2005.

In August 2006, LDV was aquired by the Russian company, Group GAZ, part of Oleg Deripaska's Basic Element group.

In June 2009, LDV was placed in administration having failed to secure an MBO or sale of the business to a third party after GAZ' own financial difficulties rendered it unable to retain the business.
