KFC - Hi-Flyer & Olympus Food Inc.

2012 In May 2012, Hi-Flyer Food (Canada) Inc. acquired 57 KFC and KFC/Taco Bells restaurants in Alberta and Manitoba. A new organization of about 1,100 employees faced the challenge of coming together as one team and deliver on KFC’s so good promise of quality food and excellent service to its customers. In July of the same year, YUM! Canada offered the remaining market of Quebec to Hi-Flyer, and thus an affiliate company was formed. Olympus Food Canada Inc. took over 65 KFC, KFC/Taco Bell, and KFC/Pizza Hut restaurants in Quebec, and another 1,200 employees were placed under the same Hi-Flyer management team. 2013 The year 2013 served as the springboard for a brighter future for Hi-Flyer and Olympus. Both companies outperformed the previous year’s sales volume, and paced the system in growth. The growing demand for restaurant support called for a more robust corporate team to support all its stores in Alberta, Manitoba, and Quebec. Support staffs came from diverse backgrounds such as Europeans, Africans, Asians and of course, Canadians. Cultural diversity – as one of the group’s main thrusts is evident in its restaurants as well as in the head office. Implementation of employee development and rewards programs were pivotal in 2014 in recognition of the workforce's valuable contribution to the company’s success. Retraining of Operations leaders were conducted to continuously upskill them in becoming more strategic, proactive and creative business managers. The Founder’s Day held in October aimed at giving the spotlight to the cooks through surprise awards and recertifying them as cooks. Recognition as a culture has been reintroduced to the organization with the STRIVE program which sought to recognize and reward outstanding performance. The Registered Retirement Savings Program (RRSP) was extended to management employees and other benefits programs in support to employee welfare.
