As a wholly owned subsidiary of the Qantas Group, Jetstar Airways forms an integral part of the Qantas Group's two-brand strategy, operating in the leisure and value-based market.Our Australia and New Zealand based fleet comprises 75 aircraft.Jetstar Airways in AustraliaJetstar Airways Pty Limited launched its Australian low-fare operations in May 2004. Now we fly to and from 19 Australian domestic and 17 short and long-haul overseas destinations. We are currently the third largest airline (by domestic market share) and a top five international airline by capacity share, serving international routes to and from Australia.Together with Qantas, we offer more domestic and international flights than any other airline group in Australia.Jetstar Airways in New ZealandJetstar first launched in New Zealand in December 2005 flying trans-Tasman services between Sydney and Christchurch. Jetstar now operates more than 50 weekly international return services between Melbourne, Sydney and the Gold Coast in Australia and Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Queenstown in New Zealand.Domestic New Zealand operations were launched on 10 June 2009 and Jetstar now accounts for up to 20% share of the domestic market, with over 200 weekly return domestic flights on sale between Auckland, Christchurch, Dunedin, Wellington, Queenstown, Nelson, Napier, New Plymouth and Palmerston North.A fleet of 9 Airbus A320s and 5 Bombardier Q300s are based in New Zealand supporting Jetstar’s New Zealand domestic and international operations. (Q300s are operated by Eastern Australian Airlines for Jetstar Airways).Jetstar’s Australia and New Zealand business is led by Chief Executive Officer Dean Salter. Daniel Banens is Head of Jetstar in New Zealand.
