Jessenius Faculty of Medicine in Martin, Comenius University in Bratislava

Comenius University in Bratislava (CU) is the oldest and largest Slovak University originated in 1919 as the first high school providing educational possibilityvfor Slovaksbin maternal language. Education was provided from 1919 for Slovak and foreign students as well. CU provides both pre-gradual and post-gradual study programmes and its faculties and institutes are educational basis for all scientific and pedagogic degrees. CU is one of the most important and most innovative institutions attending national economy, as well as CU is the leader in the count of the scientific outputs in middle European space. CU includes 13 faculties, one of which is the Jessenius faculty of Medicine in Martin. The count of CU students involves together more than 29 thousands of students studying in all three degrees of university education. There is more than 1000 study programmes that can be chosen by students. The university engages 4425 employers. From this count 300 persons are university teachers with the professor degree. More than ¾ of employers have university education. Jessenius Faculty of Medicine of the Comenius University (JLF UK) in Martin was established in 1969 as one of three medical faculties in Slovak republic. At present it provides university education as well as the lifelong perpetual education for Slovak citizens. The faculty also provides post-graduate education in accredited branches of medical and nursing sciences and participates in the post-gradual specialized study in the section of Health care. There are accredited lines of knowledge for habilitation and inauguration. JLF UK dynamically works in the field of the effective and quality way for the using of computer and communication technologies. The basal study lines available at the JLF UK involve general medicine and nursing. The nursing line is guarantied by the Institute of Nursing JLF UK.
