About Jacob Hochstetler Family Association, Inc.

The JHFA, Inc. was founded in 1988 and incorporated in 1991. It represents the far-flung descendants of the 1738 Swiss German immigrant Jacob Hochstetler, whose family suffered an Indian attack in 1757 in Berks County Pa. Calendar year membership is $10.00. The Association sponsors a quarterly newsletter, now edited by Paul J. Miller from Ohio. The Association also holds Nationwide Gatherings every five years (7th to be held 2018), consisting of a banquet, seminars, speakers, exhibits, vendors, children's activities, and more. Library and archival materials are collected. A web site and Facebook group give it an Internet presence. Some books and materials have been published. Research and publication are promoted within the numerous branches. Rev. Harvey Hostetler and William Franklikn Hochstetler published Descendants of Jacob Hochstetler in 1912, and this classic has been reprinted repeatedly, as has Descendants of Barbara Hochstedler (first published in 1938). Other books, including two historical novels in 2014, are appearing regularly.
