Information
It seems like only yesterday, but it’s been over 40 years since Paul Opiela started selling mail-order Italian car parts from the kitchen of his New Jersey home. Today, International Auto Parts is North America’s largest vendor of Alfa Romeo, Fiat and Lancia parts and accessories. Opiela, a chemist with a passion for Alfas, Fiats and Italian cars of all sorts, began running ads in enthusiast magazines and sending out catalogs. Slowly, the orders started coming in by mail and by phone. Each one was filled promptly and, little by little, the business began to grow.Within just a few years, he was a full-time catalog merchant and IAP was quickly gaining a reputation for quality, honesty and great customer service. In 1978, Paul moved his growing company and family to Charlottesville, Va. His hard work and dedication paid off, and IAP continued to grow over the next three decades. We’ve come a long way from that kitchen table in New Jersey, but Paul and our entire team remain dedicated to providing the same type of friendly, personalized service the first IAP customers enjoyed in 1971.
