The Institute of Criminal Justice Studies was founded in 1992 and has since become one of the UK's leading centres for research and course provision in criminology, criminal justice, security, fraud and police studies. With 60 academic staff, 20 professional staff and more than 2000 students, the Institute is one of the largest departments of its kind and has become an internationally renowned focal point for the multidisciplinary study of crime and criminal justice processes. It draws together expertise in criminological analysis, applied psychology, police governance and management, victimology, penology, risk, security and international and comparative criminal justice. The Institute offers an alternative to full time study in the form of part time, distance learning study. Studying at a distance doesn’t mean studying alone and being left to fend for yourself. Rather, distance learning means studying at a time and place which suits you, with all of the resources that you need readily accessible. It also takes place within a well-supported and encouraging environment. Find out more about distance learning and our courses on our website.
