The Office of the Attorney General provides legal representation to the State of Idaho. This representation is furnished to the State's agencies in the furtherance of the State's legal interests, not the personal interests of individual citizens. These duties are detailed in Article 4, Sections 1, 17, and 18 of the Idaho Constitution and are further defined in Idaho Code §§ 67-1401 - 1409. The State's chief legal officer, the Attorney General, meets his constitutional and statutory responsibilities through the efforts of eight divisions. Each division has a division chief who in turn reports directly to the Chief Deputy and the Attorney General.
