REACH for INDEPENDENCE. REACH for POTENTIAL. REACH for HOPE. HMEA believes that people diagnosed with Autism or other developmental disabilities have dreams for their lives. Our mission is to help them reach their potential and become productive members of their communities. We treat each person diagnosed with Autism or a developmental disability as an individual, with talents, abilities and challenges. And our care spans his or her lifetime — from the first few months of life through adulthood. Young infants and children benefit from HMEA’s intensive Early Intervention services. Services for school-aged children are administered in the school, home or community. Young Adults are provided with the services they need to live as independently as possible — including career guidance, job training and placement and ongoing support. Throughout adulthood, HMEA helps people with disabilities and their families reach for independence. Residential Services, Day Habilitation and Family Supports help people with disabilities stay connected and live the best life possible. Adult Family Care assists those who need help with their daily activities like bathing, eating and dressing. HMEA’s Shared Living Program matches providers who wish to open their homes to people with disabilities. The providers— families, individuals or couples — offer support, assistance and companionship in return for a small stipend. HMEA serves over 4,000 people in 110 Massachusetts communities.
