About Herty Advanced Materials Development Center

The Herty Advanced Materials Development Center is a world-class applied research center of Georgia Southern University. Founded in 1938 in honor of Dr. Charles H. Herty, a renowned Georgia chemist, the Herty Center is a new product and process accelerator providing technical, market, and development expertise in high performance materials and structures, including short-fiber composites; biomass processing; and the production of bio-based materials. With over 75 years of expertise and extensive pilot-scale capabilities for demonstrating new process technologies and prototyping new products, the Herty Center helps accelerate and de-risk commercialization.
