The GURHAN Brand began when Fiona’s lifelong passion for handmade creations met with Gurhan’s early forays into designing and making jewelry. Traveling on vacation in Turkey in the mid-eighties, Fiona found some of Gurhan’s pieces in a small seaside store only a matter of months after he had first started making jewelry. She was instantly taken with the hand-crafted quality, almost raw nature of his pieces. Fiona had long travelled around the world, seeking out and collecting handmade art, and Gurhan’s jewelry turned out to be her most significant find – in life and in business. While Fiona is known for having created the business behind the brand, now 25 years since she first met Gurhan, Fiona is just as passionately involved in the creation of jewelry as Gurhan himself. Fiona scours the markets of the world for the stones and antiquities that are the soul of the brand’s one-of-a-kind creations and she lays them out in the extraordinary designs that become the finished pieces under Gurhan’s technical eye. Her love of GURHAN jewelry is an extension of her commitment to the handmade process and preservation of the craftsmanship of the earliest goldsmiths that first inspired Gurhan.
