Gruppo PAM nasce nel 1958 dall’idea imprenditoriale di tre amici veneti, che decidono di investire nel settore commerciale moderno allora emergente.
La prima apertura avviene a Padova, nel dicembre dello stesso anno, dando inizio alla storia di quella che diventerà poi una delle più rilevanti realtà della GDO operanti in Italia nonché uno dei pochi attori tuttora completamente italiani.
Il Gruppo continua la sua crescita negli anni consolidando la sua posizione nel settore distributivo, e sviluppando una costante diversificazione dell’offerta: accanto ai supermercati Pam, il cui acronimo “PiùAMeno” evoca la mission dell’Azienda, ovvero offrire la migliore qualita del servizio e dell’offerta al prezzo più conveniente, nascono infatti una struttura per gestire le affiliazioni commerciali ad insegna Metà, Pam Express e Pam Club e i primi ristoranti self service a marchio Brek.
Con gli anni Ottanta, l’Azienda conosce un ulteriore periodo di rapido ed intenso sviluppo e diversifica ancora la propria offerta venendo incontro alle nuove esigenze delle famiglie moderne. E’ così che nel 1984 nasce il primo ipermercato Panorama, mentre nel 1993 apre il primo hard discount ad insegna IN’S.
