Global Partnership Alliance

Berkeley Lab’s Global Partnership Alliance is a public/private consortium designed to unleash investment and drive deep cuts in building energy use. By convening the most powerful stakeholders in the buildings industry, GPA is standardizing, commercializing and monetizing energy efficiency in buildings. And, it’s creating the market drivers necessary to capture what McKinsey estimates to be $290 billion in annual energy savings in the U.S. alone. Why has the $500 billion building industry left this money on the table? Because it faces a suite of obstacles when it comes to energy efficiency, from fragmentation to lack of scalable capital. GPA is facilitating strategic collaboration among key stakeholders to address these challenges. Through its strategic initiatives – Guaranteed Performance, Integrated Systems and IBOS – GPA is establishing a new paradigm for energy efficiency, reducing investment risk and increasing ROI while enabling new businesses and markets. Strategic work together is helping to unleash capital, improve business models and open new markets for energy technologies. GPA is establishing energy efficiency as an economic resource, and spurring the innovation, investment and uptake needed to unlock deep energy savings in the built environment.
