Global HEED is a 501c3 NGO which uses a social entrepreneurship business model to meet the needs of underserved communities around the world.
The Global HEED Guatemala Program engages college students from some of the top institutions the world to build social infrastructure in a central community in northwest Guatemala called Calhuitz. Global HEED has spearheaded the construction of a school, a pharmacy, a community healthcare worker training center, and a major clinic serving 26 municipalities and 10,000 people.
The Global HEED mHealth Program aims to bring healthcare access via smartphones to areas of the world lacking doctors and medical practicioners.
The Global Health & Humanitarian Summit was a conference co-hosted by Global HEED and created by Global HEED Advisory Board member Dr Neil Shulman, Professor of Medicine at Emory University. The conference had nearly 300 speakers and 1,500 attendees, with conference topics ranging from international medicine to public health to clean water initiatives around the world.
The Global HEED University Chapter Program seeks to add 20+ University Chapter memberships by the Summer 2012. University Chapters will focus on building a sustainable community project and teaching fellow students about the effects of international development.
The Global HEED Secondary Initiatives Program focuses on partnering with small NGO's to build sustainable projects in developing nations worldwide.
