About Girlguiding Wirral

Girlguiding Wirral is part of Girlguiding UK, the country’s largest voluntary organisation for girls and young women.

It is one of the 17 Guiding counties that make up the North West England Region, and has nearly 4500 girl & adult members.

The Wirral peninsula is situated between the River Mersey and River Dee, with beautiful coastal scenery and a rich heritage. This makes for a compact and easily accessible Guiding county with a close working relationship across all sections and all Divisions.

The first ideas of Scouting (& Guiding) were launched by Sir Robert Baden Powell in 1906 at the YMCA in Birkenhead, Wirral. Since then Girlguiding has gone from strength to strength and we have an active and flourishing county.

We enable our members to discover and fulfill their potential through an exciting range of enjoyable activities and events, so they can make a positive contribution to their community and make a difference to the world. We aim to support both our younger members and adult volunteers to go the extra mile, truly putting girls in the lead!

Girlguiding Wirral gives girls and young women a voice in the modern world, providing fun and friendship along the way, whilst preserving the values of Girlguiding that have made it the largest organisation for girls and young women in the UK.

We are a friendly, forward looking county with plenty of enthusiasm and desire to provide the best Girlguiding and life opportunities for all our members.
