Georgia Global Utilities (GGU) is a water utility and renewable energy holding company in Georgia, which supplies potable water and provides wastewater collection and processing services to more than one-third of Georgia’s population and generates electricity through its portfolio of eight hydro power plants and one on-shore wind farm with an aggregate installed capacity of 240 MW.Water UtilityGGU's water supply and sanitation business is a natural monopoly through full asset ownership of water and wastewater infrastructure, providing water utility and sanitation services to c. 1.4 million residential and c. 36,000 commercial customers in Tbilisi, the capital city of Georgia and surrounding areas. GGU's water utility business is self-sufficient in terms of electricity consumption by ownership of Zhinvali HPP, which was historically operated primarily for the purpose of powering GGU's water distribution network.The company represents the largest private player in water utility sector in Georgia.Renewable EnergyGGU’s renewable energy business owns and operates 240MW renewable energy assets: eight hydro power plants with 219 MW installed capacity and one wind power plant with 21 MW – the only operational wind farm in Georgia. Five power plants and the wind farm benefit from long-term fixed price Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with the Government backed electricity market system operator.The business is one of the most strongly positioned players in the deregulated and fast-growing electricity market.
