The company that is known as George Weis Company today was started in the 1860’s by Peter Weis as a small residential plastering, whitewashing and concrete finishing company. Their main line of work was plaster which was the premier ceiling and wall building material used in the United States at that time.
In 1946 and their forth generation in business George Weis Company expanded their market to drywall installation, taping, acoustical tile ceilings, spray-fireproofing, and light gauge steel studs. Additionally, as alternative to stucco, EIFS (Exterior Insulation Finish System) transformed into the exterior finish of choice for many projects. This enable commercial construction to have an alternative to brick and stone; with providing greater flexibility in design and affordability.
Well into their 6th generation, George Weis Company has gone to great strides to ensure the highest quality of work, committing to meet the needs of the customer and have grown substantially over the last 150 years to become one of the St. Louis region’s premier commercial and residential specialty contractors. George Weis Company’s vision is to continue to specialize in interior and exterior finishes (plaster, EIFS, drywall, interior/exterior metal framing and acoustic ceilings) for generations to come.
