About Fondazione Don Gnocchi
Istituita nel 1951 la Fondazione Don Gnocchi si occupa di ragazzi con disabilità, affetti da complesse patologie acquisite e congenite; di pazienti di ogni età che necessitano di interventi riabilitativi neurologici, ortopedici, cardiologici e respiratori; di assistenza ad anziani non autosufficienti, malati oncologici terminali e pazienti in stato vegetativo persistente.
Intensa, oltre a quella sanitario-riabilitativa, socio-assistenziale e socio-educativa, è l’attività di ricerca scientifica e di formazione ai più diversi livelli. Riconosciuta Istituto di Ricovero e Cura a Carattere Scientifico, segnatamente per i Centri di Milano e Firenze, oggi la Fondazione Don Gnocchi conta oltre 5.700 operatori.
Le prestazioni sono erogate in regime di accreditamento con il Servizio Sanitario Nazionale in 29 Centri, in 9 Regioni, con oltre 3.600 posti letto di degenza piena e day hospital.
Riconosciuta Organizzazione Non Governativa (ONG), la Fondazione Don Gnocchi è impegnata in progetti di solidarietà nei Paesi in via di sviluppo.
Fondazione Don Carlo Gnocchi is one of the most important non-profit Foundation and one of the biggest in the Rehabilitation, Healthcare, Assistive Technology and Elderly Care in Italy.
Founded by Don Carlo Gnocchi to provide care, rehabilitation and social integration for children who lost their limbs in the war, the Foundation has gradually expanded the scope of its operations over the years. In the past half-century, it has mainly dealt with disabled children which suffer of acquired or congenital pathologies, and patients of all ages who require neurological, orthopaedic, cardiac and respiratory care.
Since the 1980s, it has expanded to assisting elderly people who cannot look after themselves, and, in the past few years, terminal cancer patients.
Recognised as an Institution of Hospitalisation and Scientific Care, the Don Gnocchi Foundation now employs nearly 6,000 people
