Flagstaff Unified School District has a long history of offering a well-rounded and rigorous educational experience for all students. We are a K - 12 school district with 10 elementary schools, 2 middle schools, 3 high schools, on line education and many specialized educational programs. FUSD looks at best practices nationwide as the basis for using innovative education techniques and offering our students the courses and programs necessary to "Discover Your Path" whether that path includes attending college or entering directly into a career.FUSD educates over 9,900 students at 15 comprehensive school sites that include three elementary magnet schools, four middle school academies and four high school academies that include; Advanced Placement, Technology and Engineering, Expeditionary/Place Based Education and Modern Language. These programs enable students to focus their core curriculum in specific areas of interest that may utilize different methods of learning.In addition to traditional classes, high school students also have opportunities to take high school dual-enrollment classes for college credit, career and technical education, music, fine art, drama, foreign language and on line courses. Middle school students enjoy a variety of elective classes, clubs, sports and tutoring support. For elementary students, FUSD offers before and after-school programs, multi-age classroom opportunities, artists in residence, as well as intervention and enrichment opportunities for every student. Since Flagstaff Unified School District was founded in a log cabin in 1883, the city has always taken great pride in its public education. FUSD employs teachers, counselors, librarians, administrators, and support staff. Most of our teachers have master’s and doctorate degrees in education. FUSD students consistently score above state and national averages on standardized achievement tests and the dropout rates are lower than the state average.
