The Murrell family first opened a carry-out burger joint in Arlington, VA back in 1986. It was as uncomplicated as it comes, Hand-formed burgers cooked to perfection on a grill with fresh-cut fries cooked in pure peanut oil. It quickly developed a cult-like following. The Murrell family perfected their simple system, a fifth brother was born and as their family grew so did their business. Early in 2003, the five “guys” family began offering franchise opportunities. Within just 18 months, they sell their franchise territory of over 300 units. Five Guys begins to further expand to over 1,000 locations in the US and Canada and in 2013 opens their first location in the UK. Now, over 20 years after the Murrell family first opened Five Guys, there are more than 1,500 locations open in North America, Canada, UK, Middle East, Europe and growing. Even after 20 years, the mission remains unchanged, Hand formed only fresh ground beef, cooked to perfection in peanut oil that satisfies all your cravings. Just like a Burger isn’t a burger without both buns and a well done, juicy patty. Our team wouldn’t be successful without our three main values; which are Enthusiasm, Integrity and a Competitive Spirit. These are all core ingredients in our recipe for success. Today, with these values in mind we have 14 locations open in New York and Brooklyn. In a few years, we’re hoping to double that number.
