Description
Information
Epko Oil Seed Crushing was established in Lichtenburg in 1997 as a full subsidiary of NWK, in order to process sunflower seeds. In 2014 Louis Dreyfus Company (LDC) Africa acquired 50% of the facility. The two shareholders have since worked jointly to modernize the plant and expand its capacity.Today, the state-of-the-art facility has an annual crush capacity of approximately 220,000 tons, consisting mostly of sunflower seed crushing. The facility is strategically located in the north-west region of South Africa, close to one of the country’s biggest sunflower growing areas and to the NWK silos which deliver the seeds to the plant.Epko successfully combines NWK’s experience in operations and industrial management with LDC’s expertise in risk management and global merchandizing of agricultural products.
