In 2011, de Bijenkorf was acquired by the Weston family and became part of the Selfridges Group, which also consists of Brown Thomas and Arnotts in Ireland, Holt Renfrew in Canada, Selfridges in the UK. More than 10,000 team members make up the Group and together we provide leading luxury shopping experiences for our customers around the world. The 7 de Bijenkorf stores are located in the larger cities, with the flagship store in Amsterdam. Other stores are located in Rotterdam, The Hague, Utrecht, Amstelveen, Maastricht and Eindhoven. The online activities are fast growing and de Bijenkorf manages to increase its market share in a highly competitive market. Our online store, deBijenkorf.nl, started in 2009 and has grown into one of the largest e-commerce platforms in the Netherlands. In addition to the Netherlands, we have had an online store in Belgium since 2015 and an online store in Germany since 2019. It is the mission of de Bijenkorf to become the most inspiring, surprising and creative department store in the world. One doesn’t consider it as a store, but as a platform for luxury brands. Strategy is to strengthen the positioning through upgrading of the brand portfolio and optimizing the look and feel of the stores.
