Information
The Constitution Party of Maryland is passionately committed building and growing a political base for those who desire for the restoration of the Republic, the return to a respect for and adherence to the Constitution, which includes securing the God-given, and therefore immutable rights of life, liberty, and self-determination. Furthermore, the Constitution Party seeks to place candidates on Maryland’s general election ballot in 2010 who are firmly committed to the classical approach to conservatism and have a disciplined approach to limited government. The Constitution Party stands on the principles of classical, or paleoconservativism. The party and its platform are grounded in its Seven Principles: 1) Life: For all human beings, from conception to natural death; 2) Liberty: Freedom of conscience and actions for the self-governed individual; 3) Family: One husband and one wife with their children as divinely instituted; 4) Property: Each individual’s right to own and steward personal property without government burden; 5) Constitution: and Bill of Rights interpreted according to the actual intent of the Founding Fathers; 6) States' Rights: Everything not specifically delegated by the Constitution to the federal government, nor prohibited by the Constitution to the states, is reserved to the states or to the people; 7) American Sovereignty: American government committed to the protection of the borders, trade, and common defense of Americans, and not entangled in foreign alliances. The Constitution Party has the unique membership opportunity to appeal to those voters who feel abandoned by the political party many had hoped would reflect and act on conservative principles. Unfortunately there is a huge gulf in the conservative movement the Constitution Party is poised to fill. The Constitution Party is not an alternative to the GOP, but rather is poised to move forward boldly and unapologetically as THE new home of American conservatism.
