Charles Wells has been crafting ales in the heart of Bedfordshire as a family brewery since 1876, using its own certified natural mineral water well for all the beers it has produced since 1908. The brewing side of the business is currently undergoing an exciting evolution, looking to establish a new range of interesting regional beers, while the brewery’s pub estate of almost 200 pubs, and multiple managed houses in England and France continues to grow. Our brands include: Charles Wells Pubs Pizza, Pots and Pints Apostrophe Pubs Charles Wells France Charlie Wells Beers John Bull Beers Working for Charles Wells Charles Wells has been a family run company since 1876, with a long history of making the highest quality beer and running pubs that are the heart of their community. This would not have been achieved without the passion, pride and expertise of those who make up our team and are part of the extended Charles Wells family. Whether you’re part of the pub team looking after our partners running the 186 pubs in our estate, a member of managed houses helping to grow our Pizza, Pots and Pints brand, or developing our future brewing and beer portfolio, you will be a vital part of the success of Charles Wells. We have some exciting times ahead of us. Not only are we rapidly expanding our managed houses estate across England and France, but we’re also investing heavily in our leased and tenanted pubs and in the process of building a new brewery which will become our home in 2019. Vision & Values Our founder, Charles Wells, believed that quality and passion were the key to success and that philosophy remains core to our business today. Wherever we are we strive be the pub, restaurant, hotel or brewer of choice, while also challenging the norm and exceeding customers’ expectations at every turn. The people who work at Charles Wells are key to this and are supported through inspiring leadership, continuous learning, and respect and trust at all levels. Our pride in what we do does not end with our colleagues and customers, we also take great pride in our location. Every Charles Wells pub is encouraged to work with the local community and at our Bedford Head Office we work hard to support local community groups and raise money for multiple charities.
