Carnival Films is the UK’s largest drama specialist, responsible for the global TV phenomenon Downton Abbey, winner of two Golden Globes and ten Primetime Emmy Awards. With a total of 39 nominations, Downton Abbey is the most nominated non-US show in the history of the Emmys. Founded in 1978, Carnival has produced over 500 hours of drama and has received over 200 national and international awards and nominations. In 2008, Carnival Films joined the NBCUniversal family to become the cornerstone of its international TV studios. Over the years, Carnival has produced many popular programmes such as Hotel Babylon, Poirot, Rosemary and Thyme, The Last Weekend, Enid, The Old Curiosity Shop and The Philanthropist. Recent productions include the acclaimed production of Shakespeare’s History Plays The Hollow Crown, BAFTA award winning Any Human Heart, Sir David Hare’s Worricker political thriller Page Eight, and WWII crime drama Murder On The Home Front. Current projects include a fourth series of the hit ITV crime show Whitechapel, a fourth series of Downton Abbey, a new series Dracula for NBC and Sky Living, romantic drama The 7.39 for BBC, parts two and three of Sir David Hare’s Worricker Trilogy, and The Lost Honour (working title) based on the true story of Christopher Jefferies. In 2011, Carnival was recognised as Best UK Production Company at the Bulldog Awards and named Best Production Company at the 2012 Broadcast Awards.
