MPX was established in 2005 when the management team realised that there was a gap in the market for mobile phone recycling. Thousands of handsets were being replaced each year and those redundant phones would simply lie in drawers gathering dust. In September 2012, MPX was acquired by Brightstar corp and was rebranded as Brightstar Buyback and Trade-in a year later. The company have developed numerous bespoke trade in platforms for use by Mobile Phone Networks and retailers, allowing them to unlock the value in their customers old devices and utilise it to drive their own KPIs.
