Board of Trustees of Universitas Indonesia

The Board of Trustees is the highest governing body in the university, representing stakeholders from the government, the society, and the university itself. The Board of Trustees membership is comprised of several elements: • the Minister of Education and Culture (1 ex officio),• the University Academic Senate (6 elected),• the Chancellor (1 ex officio),• the Society (7 elected),• the Education Employee (non-teaching) (1 elected), and• the Student (1 elected)who are all appointed or dismissed by the Minister for a 5-year term. The Student Representative length of term is only one year, considering the main priority is to complete studies, and thus replacement by a more junior student takes place annually. Roles and Responsibilities of the Board of Trustees:1. Establish UI general policies,2. Oversee the financial condition of UI,3. Legalize the Long Term Development Plan, the Strategic Plan, and the Work Plan & Budget and evaluate the implementations,4. Provide input to the Chancellor for the management of UI, and the implementation of laws and regulations,5. Assess the performance of the Chancellor once a year, together with the Academic Senate and the Council of Professors,6. Appoint and dismiss the Chancellor of UI, and7. Resolve UI issues that cannot be resolved by other organizations after passing consideration of coordination meeting between organs.
