Board of Trustees of Universitas Indonesia

The Board of Trustees (a.k.a Board of Overseers / Court of Governors) is the highest body in the university who also known as the governing body of the university, representing stakeholders from the government, the society, and the university itself. The Board of Trustees membership is comprised of several elements: • Minister of Education and Culture (1 ex officio), • Society (6 elected), • President of Universitas Indonesia (1 ex officio), • Lecturer (7 elected), • Education Personnel (non-teaching) (1 elected), and • Student (1 elected) who are all appointed or dismissed by the Minister for a 5-year term. The Student Representative length of term is only one year, considering the main priority is to complete studies, and thus replacement by a more junior student takes place annually. Roles and Responsibilities of the Board of Trustees:1. Establish Universitas Indonesia general policies, 2. Oversee the financial condition of Universitas Indonesia, 3. Approve the Long Term Development Plan, the Strategic Plan, and the Work Plan & Budget and evaluate their implementations,4. Provide input to the President of Universitas Indonesia for the management of Universitas Indonesia, and the implementation of laws and regulations, 5. Assess the performance of the President of Universitas Indonesia once a year, together with the Academic Senate and the Council of Professors,6. Appoint and dismiss the President of Universitas Indonesia, and7. Resolve Universitas Indonesia issues that cannot be resolved by other organizations after passing consideration of coordination meeting between organs.
