Birds Canada is the country's national charity for science-based bird conservation.Our mission is to conserve wild birds of Canada through sound science, on-the-ground actions, innovative partnerships, public engagement, and science-based advocacy. Why birds? Birds help us to assess the health of our environment. The decline of a single species can indicate larger causes for concern. Monitoring and early detection of declines in common birds helps identify priorities for conservation action.Birds provide essential services such as pollinating plants, dispersing seeds, and helping control insects. And birds are very important indicators of change. Studying birds is a great way to understand the overall health of ecosystems and the environmentBirds Canada has programs active in all 13 Canadian provinces & territories involving science staff supported by nearly 60,000 Citizen Science volunteers. Together, we are Canada's voice for birds.
