The Behavioral Sciences Institute is a newly developed program within the College of Science of Mathematics to combine all behavioral services offered at Fresno State.The Behavioral Sciences Institute was established to be a leader in providing behavior analytic training to undergraduate and graduate students, high quality services to the community, and generating research in behavior analysis and related fields. With the growing need in the Central Valley, our Autism Center and Behavior Intervention Services have expanded to improve the lives of individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities. Timothy Yeager is the newly appointed Executive Director for of the Behavioral Sciences Institute which currently houses four programs Autism Center at Fresno State is an Early Intensive Behavioral Intervention (EIBI) model consist of 20 – 40 hours per week of individualized instruction for children with autism who begin treatment at the age of four years or younger and usually continue for 2 – 3 years. Behavior Intervention Services at Fresno State applies the principles of behavior analysis to improve independence and quality of life by addressing communication, self-care, leisure skills, maladaptive behaviors, and functional skills. A individualized curriculum is created for each of our clients, based upon assessments, and skill-tracking instruments for children and adults with varying abilities. Positive Parenting at Fresno Stateis a seven week workshop offered once a semester in English and Spanish designed to help parents gain a better understanding of their child's behavior and learn to use various positive and supportive parenting techniques. Social Connections at Fresno State are peer groups designed to strengthen the social interaction and communication skills of children, teens, and young adults with autism spectrum disorder.
