Be Ready Employer Hub

1000s of people are overlooked for jobs because of pre-conceived myths and ideas about disability and long-term health conditions.The Be Ready Employer Hub is a free-to-use service for Devon-based employers to help them employ (and keep) people with disabilities or long term health conditions. Officially launched in March 2020, we have been providing our services online during the Covid-19 lock down. We recognise that people will be much more aware of health issues at work, so we can provide advice and guidance to ensure employers know about grants, support and recommended actions to keep everyone safe and well. Our focus is the ABILITY and TALENTS of individuals (rather than the disability or health condition) to highlight the business benefits of valuing difference and diversity. This includes understanding how to tap into the “Purple £” as a potential market to grow your business - this is the estimated annual spend of disabled people, their family and friends worth c. £249 billion in the UK.Our free services comprise:• Online knowledge resource ‘hub’ with all the info and links for employers who are ready to take the next step but not sure where to start.• Training – online or onsite as Open Courses or bespoke.• Telephone help-line (call-back) service for specific questions or requests for information.• Learning network groups for employers to share experience, ideas and have open and honest conversations about employing individuals with a disability.• Opportunities to achieve the different levels of the Disability Confident scheme (often seen as a ‘Badge of Honour’ by disabled people when making buying decisions).
