The BCS Guernsey International Section was formed in July 2003 to provide a local forum for information systems practitioners in the Bailiwick of Guernsey. The Bailiwick of Guernsey comprises the islands of Guernsey, Alderney, Sark, Herm, Lihou, Brechou and Jethou. The aims of the BCS Guernsey Section are to provide a local organization for BCS members to regularly meet and discuss both local and general IT issues and to promote the IT profession within the Bailiwick. Meetings will usually be open to anyone who would like to attend, not just BCS members. In pursuing these aims, the Guernsey Section hopes to increase awareness in local schools - by attending careers fairs and providing information - of the broad spectrum of IT careers now available and the many ways in which young people can become involved in IT or pursue a career as an information systems practitioner. New members are welcome to join either of the sections to maintain contact with other professionals and to keep abreast of current developments in IT.
