Description
Information
We are a regional coalition of postdoc associations and postdoc representatives from 5 Universities, 4 National Labs, and 5 Research Institutes in the Bay Area. The Bay Area Postdocs (BAP) is an initiative that sprung to live at the National Postdoc Association annual meeting on March 2016, when the postdoc association (PDA) representatives of the Buck Institute (Elie Maksoud, Imilce Rodriguez), Gladstone Institute (Emilie Battivelli, Emilie Besnard), Stanford University (Francesca Santoro, Roberta Sala), and University of California – San Francisco (Björn Harink) met in Grand Rapids, MI. They saw a need for more inter-institute postdoc interaction and decided to set up a network of PDA representatives that organizes networking and social events (Exploratorium, Cal Academy of Sciences). Inspired by the original Future of Research – Bay Area Postdocs symposium in 2015, the BAP network organized the first Bay Area Postdocs Symposium (BAPS) in June 2017. Since its inception the BAP is growing rapidly with other institute and company representatives, and is moving forward to represent postdocs from the entire Bay Area and beyond.
