Bahasa Basudara

Bahasa Basudara is a free online language learning service, provided by Moluccans who live across the globe, to improve the language skills of Moluccans across Indonesia with limited access to fluent and/or native foreign speakers. Bahasa Basudara consists of a community of volunteers that connects Moluccans worldwide, who are helping each other by sharing experiences and knowledge. It includes the concept of "Ale rasa beta rasa" and "Sagu Salempeng Bage Dua," said founder Jeff Malaihollo. The students learn a foreign language from fluent or native speakers and in this way the tutors directly contribute to improving the language skills of young people in the Moluccas and at the same time learn about life and culture in the Moluccas itself.Up to date Bahasa Basudara offers over 100 classes 7 days a week. The lion's share of the classes are in English and a small part is German. There are now 100 tutors from all over the world; America, Oman, United Kingdom, Australia, Netherlands, New Zealand and Indonesia. These tutors are in close contact with the 34 facilitators who are stationed in the Moluccas. They ensure that the zoom calls are set up, the students are present, the homework assignments are passed through and assist in Bahasa Ambon if the students do not understand something in English. Bahasa Basudara started after a conversation with Basudara Maluku Global which once started for the Moluccan community in Australia and has since grown into a worldwide network.Jeff Malaihollo hopes in this way to improve language skills, build self-confidence and thus create opportunities for studies and / or jobs abroad. “We also want to offer webinars and workshops on our platform, so that we can motivate the young people and provide insight into what is possible outside and within the Moluccas.”If you would like to join as a tutor or student don't hesitate to get in touch.
