Athena Real Estate, LLC is a real estate investment and services firm focused on specialty collateral types, including: self-storage facilities, manufactured housing communities, and recreational vehicle parks/resorts (see www.AthenaRealEstate.com). Athena Real Estate and its affiliates currently operate 22 commercial properties including nine mobile home parks, six RV parks, six self-storage facilities, and a Florida mobile home and RV dealership. 17 of Athena’s properties are in Florida, including 12 properties in Central Florida. Of the 15 parks that Athena owns and operates, 7 are 55+ communities. Athena generally acquires properties on the East Coast from Florida to Maine, but will opportunistically acquire assets nationwide. The Company's operating philosophy is to obtain premium returns for value-added opportunities where focused and experienced management provide a competitive advantage. Athena has attracted capital from an S&P 500 REIT, a NYC private equity firm, and a family office. Athena has also been engaged as a property manager by a top five commercial mortgage servicer. Athena was founded in 2004 by Richard J. O’Brien, who is the company’s Chief Executive Officer and Managing Member. Prior to the founding of Athena, Mr. O’Brien was CFO/EVP of FelCor Lodging Trust, a mid-cap hotel REIT and a Managing Director of GE Capital Real Estate. Earlier in his career he held managerial roles at J.P. Morgan and KPMG.
