Information
Mission:Amateur Radio Emergency Service of Douglas and Elbert Counties (ARESDEC) is an all volunteer public service organization, consisting of licensed and trained Amateur Radio operators who provide communications for community events and in times of emergency.About Us:ARESDEC is a group of licensed amateur radio operators (AKA, "hams") who believe is volunteering their time, talent and treasure in service to their communities through the use of their amateur radio and public safety communications skills and abilities. ARESDEC is not for your average "ham" - we we expect our members to perform at the very highest levels of skill in service to the Douglas County Sheriff, Elbert County Sheriff, National Weather Service and the wildland fire community. To enable this level of service, our members are trained in the Incident Command System (ICS), emergency radio communications operation and technologies, weather spotter training (NWS provided), emergency shelter communications and (for select personnel) wildland fire fighting and communications. Our members include commercial radio and satellite professionals and engineers, project managers, information technology professionals, electricians, retired professionals from many fields, school teachers, civil servants, consultants and many more. Each are valued and special - they give much of themselves to this vision. Are you up to this challenge? Apply now to ARESDEC. New member enrollment and training occurs every Fall and Spring.
