About Amara
Amara works to ensure that every child in foster care has the love, support and comfort of a committed family – as quickly as possible, and for as long as each child needs. Fostering and Adopting: We guide, prepare, and support foster families to ensure that every kid in foster care can be placed in a stable, long-term, loving home. Emergency Sanctuary: Our Emergency Sanctuary program, which operates facilities in King and Pierce County, ensures that kids who have just been removed from their homes have a safe, child-centered place to land while state social workers determine the best long-term placement for each child. Post Adoption Services: Our Post-Adoption services support Amara adoptees and their families through community-building, mentorship, education, and more. Amara is welcomes families into our program regardless of marital status, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, home ownership, income, or education.
