AlpenIO is dedicated to the development of novel high-speed, low power optical interconnects. As interconnect speeds increase, optical links offer the following advantages over copper solutions:

Very low power consumption (800mW max for 40Gb/s).
Long distance (up to 100m).
Very small footprint and very high connector density.
Immunity to electrical interference.
Much smaller, lighter cables with small bend radius compared to copper
