The industry has evolved enormously for women in the past 75 years, with our organization smartly and passionately evolving with it, ahead of the curve, so that all women in accounting and finance can excel.A plan for your futureThe Accounting & Financial Women’s Alliance promotes the professional growth of women in all facets of accounting and finance. Members increase their career potential by connecting with colleagues, receiving education and mentorship to advance their careers, and developing leadership skills. For 75 years, members have tapped into a network of successful, motivated, and influential professionals who understand the unique position of being a woman in the industry and who, together, contribute to the future development of their profession.The Buffalo Chapter:The Buffalo Chapter was chartered in 1950 and has been helping women in the industry for over 60 years. Our chapter is comprised of professionals who are employed in private industry, the government sector, education, sole proprietors and public accounting. We meet monthly from August through May and host a social activity every summer. Our December meeting is a Holiday Charity event that raises money each year for different organizations that help women and children. We offer CPE at several of our meetings throughout the year. Our objective is to develop technical, leadership, and management skills and to provide training in career planning and goal setting. We want to educate accounting and financial professionals in the value of addressing quality-of-life issues. Our chapter helps to ensure the continuation of AFWA as a strong and viable organization supporting members in achieving successful careers.
