Information
Accounting & Financial Women's Alliance (AFWA): The mission of the Accounting & Financial Women’s Alliance is to enable women in all accounting and related fields to achieve their full personal, professional and economic potential and to contribute to the future development of their profession. A legacy of expertise Founded in 1938 to increase the opportunities for women in all fields of accounting and finance, members and their companies benefit from resources that accelerate their professional growth. The industry has evolved enormously for women, with our organization passionately evolving with it, ahead of the curve, so that all women in accounting and finance can excel. The AFWA promotes the professional growth of women in all facets of accounting and finance. Members increase their career potential by connecting with colleagues, receiving education and mentorship to advance their careers, and developing leadership skills. Members have tapped into a network of successful influential professionals who understand the position of being a woman in the industry and who, together, contribute to the future development of their profession. The Buffalo Chapter was chartered in 1950. Our chapter is comprised of professionals who are employed in private industry, government sector, education, sole proprietors and public accounting. We meet monthly and host a social activity every summer. Our December meeting is a Holiday Charity event that raises money each year for different organizations that help women and children. We offer CPE at several of our meetings throughout the year. Our objective is to develop technical, leadership, and management skills and to provide training in career planning and goal setting. We want to educate accounting and financial professionals in the value of addressing quality-of-life issues. Our chapter helps to ensure the continuation of AFWA as a strong organization supporting members in achieving successful careers.
