AFSCME Local 96

American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Local 96 represents the 500 Clerical and Secretarial Employees of Iowa State University of Science and Technology in Ames, Iowa. Local 96 is an affiliate of AFSCME Iowa Council 61, which is made up of over 100 self-governing Locals. The six Districts of AFSCME Iowa organize efforts between local unions, train and educate our volunteer leaders, provide representation and bargaining support to members, and coordinate legislative activities. Local 96 is also a member of AFSCME International, the country's leading public employee union with more than 1.6 million members.
