The WDMH Foundation was formed in December of 1993 to help finance the capital needs of the hospital. In the past, the Foundations has successfully raised funds for a new ophthalmology clinic; a variety of new operating room equipment; a seven-station state-of-the-art hemodialysis unit; and most recently $15 million for a $59 million expansion and redevelopment project. Currently, the Foundation is hoping to raise $2 million for the 'Close to Home Campaign'.
The Winchester District Memorial Hospital is a full-service community hospital in the Township of North Dundas, serving a catchment area of about 75 km with a population of approximately 90,000 since 1948. The Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) funds the hospital’s operating budget from provincial funds. However replacement or purchase of diagnostic and other medical equipment and some program costs must come from other sources.
We are extremely grateful to our friends who support our projects with gifts of cash, securities and bequests as well as gifts-in-kind, services and many volunteer hours!
