Volkswagen Infotainment GmbH

Volkswagen Infotainment GmbH (short VWIF), a component of the Volkswagen Group, under the CARIAD-umbrella, is developing mobility solutions. It was founded in August 2014 after a Transfer of the European R&D site of smartphone developer BlackBerry in Bochum. The company's main site is located directly at the edge of the campus of the Ruhr University Bochum (RUB). It also maintains another site in the center of Bochum and one in Wolfsburg. The majoriy of our employees are software developers and engineers and we work with our company languages German and English. Effective September 2021 we boast more than 750 employees from 43 different nations. Our slogan "Connecting Cars" reflects our specialist knowledge for connectivity of the next generation cars of the Volkswagen Group. One of our main customers is the R&D department of the brand Volkswagen PKW in Wolfsburg. Current developments are focused on the design and implementation of Online Connectivity Units, a central online Interface between car and backend.
