Description
Information
Founded in 1896, Viktor Lenac is one of the leading shipyards for ship repair, conversions and offshore in the Mediterranean. With its three floating drydocks, one accommodating vessels up to 160,000 dwt, more than 1,000 meters of berthing space, a large offshore construction site and a highly skilled workforce, is a modern shipyard capable of completing the most complex projects on short deadlines and up to highest standards. Shiprepair is its core business. Yearly around 60 vessels of all types go under repairs. Viktor Lenac has become a by-word for quality in the ship repair global market, providing the whole range of services – from standard drydocking and extensive steel repairs to specialized works on propulsion and electrical systems. Experience with ship conversions is dating back in the late '60s when VLS started with first lengthenings and car carrier conversions. VLS was among the first in the world to go into ship lengthening. The company's expansion began with a series of successful conversions of pipe and cable-laying ships and offshore platform support and supply vessels. Its reference list of complex conversion projects is respectable: Ro-Ro Vessels to Cable Layer, Supplier Vessel to Pipe Layer, ROV Support Vessel to Pipe Layer, Train Ferry to Floating Process Unit, Mega Yacht Restoration, Double Skin Installation, Lengthening. Viktor Lenac is among the few specialized yards for ship conversions and gas platform construction in the entire region of the Mediterranean. Offshore activity started during '70s with the conversion of ships into the crane vessels used to install fixed platforms. Recent offshore activity has been marked by the construction of jackets, process modules and living quarters for 17 gas production platforms, in compliance with rigid standards required by offshore companies, intended for gas fields in the northern Adriatic Sea, a gas exploitation project launched by Edina and INAgip in 1997.
