Up2Us Sports is a non-profit organization established in 2010 that focuses on engaging, training, and supporting sports coaches to positively impact youth and communities. They provide a range of services including training programs for coaches, resources for sports-based youth development (SBYD), and the AmeriCorps coaching program, which places coaches in underserved communities to mentor and develop young athletes.
The AmeriCorps coaching program is designed to place dedicated coaches in underserved communities across the United States. These coaches work with local youth sports organizations to provide mentorship, training, and support to young athletes. Participants in the program receive extensive training in coaching techniques, youth development, and community engagement, enabling them to create a positive impact in the lives of the youth they serve.
Up2Us Sports primarily supports non-profit organizations, schools, and community-based programs that focus on youth sports and development. Their programs are designed to enhance the capacity of these organizations by providing trained coaches and resources that promote sports-based youth development, ultimately helping to create safer and more supportive environments for young people.
Sports-Based Youth Development (SBYD) is an approach that uses sports as a vehicle for promoting positive youth development. It emphasizes the importance of physical activity, teamwork, and life skills in fostering resilience, confidence, and social-emotional growth among young people. SBYD is important because it not only helps youth develop athletic skills but also equips them with essential life skills that contribute to their overall well-being and success.
There are several ways to get involved with Up2Us Sports. You can volunteer as a coach, support their programs through donations, or partner with them if you represent an organization that works with youth. Additionally, you can participate in their training programs or attend events to learn more about their mission and impact in the community.
Since its establishment in 2010, Up2Us Sports has made a significant impact on youth and communities across the nation. They have trained thousands of coaches who have directly engaged with hundreds of thousands of young athletes. Their programs have led to improved physical fitness, increased youth engagement in sports, and enhanced life skills among participants. By fostering a supportive environment through sports, Up2Us Sports has contributed to building stronger, healthier communities.
