Description
Information
The Twyford CE Academies Trust, West London, comprises Twyford CE High School, established in 1981 (1,500 students), and the newly opened William Perkin CE High School (now in its fourth year, with 775 students). Both schools have been graded ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted and SIAMS. The Trust has DfE approval to open its third school in the Borough of Ealing. Twyford School, Acton was set up by the LDBS in 1981, and is one of a group of 13 LDBS schools in London. The school has an excellent reputation and was rated as ‘Outstanding’ in its most recent Ofsted inspection (May 2012). It has developed specialisms in Music and Modern Foreign Languages as well as a large and highly successful Sixth Form in which Maths, Science and Computing are the largest areas. Since its inception the school has grown considerably and now admits around 950 students aged 11 to 16, and an additional 550 students to the Sixth Form. William Perkin Church of England High School opened as a Free School in September 2013 with its first intake of Year 7 students, and now has four year groups (7, 8, 9 and 10) totalling around 775 students. The school is founded on the successful systems and approaches of Twyford CE High School, with the principle difference that it is a distinctively Christian school with open admission criteria. The school was rated Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ in June 2015, and is oversubscribed on first choice applicants. The staff community, though still small, is very positive and highly motivated.
