Sol Music

Sol Music takes place at Ryerson Community School, and is a non-profit, volunteer-run organization (UTSU, ULife, CCR recognized) that offers free music lessons to elementary school children with limited access to music education. Weekly lessons run in accordance with the TDSB calendar. The program offers a great opportunity for potential musicians to gain more experience in teaching and make meaningful connections with like-minded musicians. Our mission • Provide performance opportunities for children that may not have access to extracurricular music education. • Foster self-confidence, creativity, discipline, teamwork, and community leadership in children through music education • Promote the arts within the community • Encourage leadership and volunteerism by recruiting young musicians as both teachers and mentors to the children Sol Music class sizes range from 2-4 students of a comparable music level and age group. Practical and theoretical resources are available for teachers to use, but we also encourage teachers to create and implement their own curriculum based on their students’ needs.
