Sime Darby Plantation is a founding member of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil and the world’s largest producer of Certified Sustainable Palm Oil, accounting for 20% of global production. We play an active role to ensure that our 248 estates and 72 mills which make up our upstream presence in Malaysia, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands & Liberia are focused on delivering results through operational excellence. We take pride in our identity as a global provider of sustainable, tailor-made palm oil products which are created at our refineries located across the world. As a leader in plantation sustainability, we are committed to upholding our Responsible Agriculture Charter and various other standards and best practices which guide us to responsibly manage the 1 million hectares of land that we own. We play a leading role in the development and promotion of sustainable practices in the palm oil sector and believe that there is no alternative to sustainable development. Innovation at Sime Darby Plantation is intertwined across our businesses, providing us with vast opportunities. A highlight of our efforts is the award winning GenomeSelect Planting Material that will enable us to produce higher yield through efficient use of land. We are present in the Renewables business with a focus on the development of green technology and renewable energy which includes bio-based chemicals, biogas and composting.
