Sexual Violence Center (SVC) supports youth and adult victim/survivors of sexual violence 12 years of age and older. We provide services to individuals living in Carver, Hennepin, and Scott counties.
SVC offers a range of free services to support victims and survivors through the crisis and trauma caused by sexual violence, including:
-24-hour crisis support telephone line: staffed by trained advocates
-Individual, in-person counseling: intensive, directed support to victims & survivors
-Support groups: for victims & survivors, as well as their friends & family
-Crisis support in hospitals: to provide support through forensic exams (evidence collection for the "rape kit")
-Legal advocacy: to advocate for resources needed to file restraining orders, navigate the criminal justice system and get connected to legal representation
-Community education: breaking the silence surrounding sexual violence
If sexual violence has impacted your life, the Sexual Violence Center is here to support you. We actively seek to eliminate barriers to service; all of our services are grounded in a philosophy of nondiscrimination regarding race, religion, national origin, cultural orientation, gender identity and/or expression, age, sexual orientation, legal status, relationship status, physical ability, political affiliations or beliefs, marital status, HIV status or financial status.
At SVC, it is our mission to eradicate sexual violence and abuse by:
- Challenging the systems and individuals that promote privilege, oppression, and domination,
- Educating those that will join us as advocates and catalysts for change, and
- Supporting those who have been victimized, empowering them to not only survive but thrive, finding power and movement in our collective voices.
