Ronald McDonald House Charities of Eastern Wisconsin, Inc. is dedicated to easing the burden of families whose lives have been disrupted as a result of their child’s illness or injury. We provide a "home away from home" and caring outreach initiatives. Since our doors opened in 1984, more than 34,000 families have called the Ronald McDonald House in Milwaukee home. In 2012 alone, we served over 1,000 families. We have been at full occupancy with our 38 guest rooms—often with a wait list of anywhere from five to twenty families each day. Last year, we had to turn 617 families away! We offer a place to call home at little or no cost so families can stay together which helps their child heal faster. Many families contribute what they can—even if it’s the suggested $10 a night donation. In reality, our cost is more than $100 per night. No one is ever turned away for their inability to pay. The Ronald McDonald House is more than a place to stay; it is place for our families to flourish, to reach out to one another and offer comfort and support. Over 550 volunteers support the Ronald McDonald House offering their greatest gifts of time, talent, compassion and heart. Families enjoy private rooms, family meals, art and dog therapy programs, music, a chapel and beautiful Secret Garden. Most importantly, our House offers the emotional support and friendship of other families facing very similar situations.
