California Sunday Inc. is the parent company to Pop-Up Magazine, the critically-acclaimed "live magazine", and a new print and digital publication, The California Sunday Magazine. California Sunday produces stories of national relevance through a West Coast lens--with a focus on scenes and subjects spanning the Western U.S., Asia, and Latin America--often pushing the boundaries of conventional journalism. Called "beautiful" and "brilliant" by critics, Pop-Up Magazine produces live shows for sell-out audiences in cities across the U.S. In March 2015, Pop-Up Magazine produced a special issue for the annual TED conference in Vancouver. In January 2015, after only three issues, The California Sunday Magazine earned a nomination for a National Magazine Award (design category). Our stories are often picked as staff favorites by The New York Times and influential journalists nationwide. Our April 2015 cover design was picked by TIME as one of the year's 10 best covers. The print edition of The California Sunday Magazine is distributed monthly to over 400,000 readers through partnerships with the Los Angeles Times, San Francisco Chronicle, Sacramento Bee, and San Diego Union-Tribune. Our award-winning Story Advertising Studio--a team of creative directors, filmmakers, photographers, illustrators, animators, writers, and producers--partners with top national brands (Airbnb, Google Play, Lexus, and Nest) to create innovative "story ads" that we in turn distribute across California Sunday's print, digital, and live channels.
